Friends usually call me a naughty boy, and I never have any wish to deny this title. I clearly remember that when I was a small boy, I let my imagination run wild whenever I sat down and tried to start my homework in front of the study desk. Such as, I would begin to imagine tiny fantasy creatures running around my desktop with their futuristic airships parked just on the top of my bookshelves. It would be a fantastic experience if I could shrink myself to a small size and join them to fly above the ceiling, or climb and hike on my desk, which was always fully covered with unfinished homework. Therefore, in this animation, I'm answering the calls of my childhood memories, which also explains why I will borrow a real historical event that happened when I was very small.
This animation combines computer 3D rendered modelling characters with motion-captured data from my own dancing movements. Yes, that's the best dance I can offer. The Kinect captured data are then transferred into Maya, and the animated character I used is a found modelling from Mixamo. After that, the 3D computer-animated footage was later rendered and superimposed on real footage of my messy dinner table, where I do my creative works nowadays. Finally, the visual effects were achieved by using the 3D tracking in the Adobe After Effects to calculate my footage's camera movement, so that the final Maya 3D animation fits the positions and motions of the actual camera.
